New Site-Specific Work for Spitalfields Winter Festival
London’s Spitalfield’s Festival in its 40th anniversary year supports three music creators in laboratory-style commissions; offering opportunities to challenge compositional practice, explore working in new ways and provoke dialogue between composers, ideas and audiences. Ailís will present her new work I Used to Feel on 5th December 2016 in The Hoxton Hotel, Shoreditch, London.

Ailís’ project will explore experiences of deafness: investigating sensory withdrawal, one-to-one live music, sign language, projected text and darkness; questioning the essence of communication and what contributes to the breakdown when you experience sensory impairment. Is music, without context, capable of expressing anything at all?

Supported by the PRS Foundation for New Music. More information and tickets.
