Delia Derbyshire Day 2014 had a fresh format and took place on SAT 12 APRIL 2014 at the International Anthony Burgess Foundation in Manchester followed by touring events in Hebden Bridge, London, Bristol and Norwich. We presented new artist commissions (Daniel Weaver & Andrea Pazos) and a 45 minute audio visual collage of Delia Derbyshire archive material.
DD Day 2016 took place on 17 January 2016 at HOME in Manchester with hands-on workshops for families, a special music and visuals arts programe and live pop-up music performance filling the HOME building with Delia-n spirit. Delia Derbyshire Day (DD Day) is now a registered charity with registered Charity Number 1164959.
Performed on the 2014 tour by classical trumpet player Brendan Ball and double-bassist Geth Griffiths. Ailís Ní Ríain is a contemporary classical composer. Her music has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, BBC 4, RTÉ in addition to a documentary for Channel 4′s Big Art project. She received her Purcell Room, Southbank debut in 2007 and her Carnegie Hall debut in 2008. As a Composer she is represented by the Contemporary Music Centre of Ireland. Ailís’ Delia Darlings commission The Consequences of Falling is dedicated to the memory of Delia Derbyshire and loosely based on Delia’s ‘Pot Au Feu’ (1968).
