Haptic Voices - created by Jim Ruxton and David Bobier and Dendrocopos a specially commissioned work by Ailís Ní Ríain opens in June 2025 at NAISA - the National Adventures in Sound Art - Ontario, Canada and remains in situ throughout the summer months.
"Haptic Voices" is a sound art installation by VibraFusionLab artists David Bobier and Jim Ruxton, featured at New Adventures in Sound Art (NAISA). The installation is a vibro-tactile wall that allows visitors to lean against it and experience sound through bodily vibrations rather than just auditory perception.
This innovative approach makes the sound art experience accessible to a wider audience, including the Deaf and hard-of-hearing communities, by using touch as the primary sense for experiencing sound compositions. The "New Adventures in Sound Art" project, which includes "Haptic Voices," aims to explore new sound technologies and foster understanding of experimental sound art.
