Soundless premiered at Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin

Soundless composed by Ailís Ní Ríain and performed by XelmYa Trio, Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin October 2017. XelmYa is a contemporary music ensemble interested in improvisation, unusual instrumental combinations and collaborations with other arts. The Berlin based group focuses on pushing and developing the baroque trio sonata’s instrumentation into contemporary music structures. Alexa Renger – violin, Friederike Börnchen – oboe/cor anglais, Sylvia Hinz – Recorders.
Soundless is based on the visual poem Soundless by Andrew Topel. The composer used the musical phrase seen in the visual poem as the basis for this five minute composition which focuses on the development on a small cell of material.
